About Normal Map Generator
Normal Map Generator is a browser-based toolkit for turning image and height information into useful texture maps for real-time materials. It is designed for game developers, technical artists, 3D artists, and anyone who needs a fast first pass before opening a full material authoring package.
What we build
The site brings common normal-map and PBR preparation tasks into one focused workflow. You can convert an image or grayscale height map, inspect the result under a simple light, choose an OpenGL or DirectX engine preset, and export PNG files for Blender, Unity, or Unreal Engine.
Local-first by design
The free generator processes source images in the current browser tab. That keeps iteration quick and avoids sending ordinary texture references to a conversion server. No account is needed for the local tools, and the interface makes the processing model visible before you export.
Built for practical material workflows
A generated normal map is a starting point, not a replacement for geometry, a baked high-to-low result, or a physically measured material scan. Our pages explain those boundaries so you can judge the output at the same mesh scale, camera distance, and lighting conditions used in the final project.
- Normal, height, AO, roughness, metallic, specular, displacement, and ORM outputs
- Blender, Unity, and Unreal engine direction presets
- Batch processing for related texture references
- Guides for importing and checking normal maps in common engines
AI-ready, without confusing a preview with inference
The AI Normal Map workflow currently provides a deterministic local preview and keeps the future API adapter separate. This lets you test prompts, material types, reference images, and export behavior now while keeping the product honest about which steps are local and which model service has not been connected yet.
